The Inail open data of 2022 is online

The reports of accidents at work presented in 2022 were 697,773, +25.67% compared to 2021.  – In the “Open data” section of the Inail website, the analytical data of the reports of accidents – overall and with a fatal outcome – and occupational diseases presented to the Institute in the entire year 2022 are available.

The total number of accidents includes declarations relating to infections from covid-19 occurred in the workplace or for the performance of work and during the course. The publication is accompanied by a methodological note on the sources of statistical data and a glossary taken from the model for interpreting the number of occupational accidents and diseases. Statistical tables and “elementary data” relating to the number of declarations of accidents and occupational diseases are made available monthly in the “Open data” section of the Inail portal.

In 2022, a total of 697,773 workplace accident complaints were registered, which is 25.67% more than in 2021.As regards sex, the increase concerns both the female component, whose complaints increased from 200,557 to 286,522, and the male component, with 411,251 complaints, or 56,572 more than in 2021.Ci there were 1 090 reports of fatal outcomes , compared to 1 221 alerts registered in 2021. With regard to sex, the decrease concerns both the female component, with 120 complaints against the 126 previously detected, and the male component, with 970 cases against the 1,095 detected in 2021.

The territorial analysis of the  complaints detected during the year shows, compared to 2021, increases of 37.29% for the south, 33.15% for the islands, 30.42% for 29.36% for the center and 13.29% for the north-east. The number of complaints is increasing in all regions compared to 2021.

Larger increases were recorded in Lombardy, 27,869 additional complaints, in Lazio, Veneto, Campania, Piedmont, Tuscany, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Puglia, Abruzzo, Marche, Calabria and Umbria.Following, in descending order, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, province of Bolzano, Molise, autonomous province of Trento, Valle d’Aosta and Basilicata

In 2022, accident reports increased by 25.67%. Of the 697,773 cases registered, 607,806 concern accidents at work, 89,967 commuting accidents  Declarations of accidents at work, up 28.00% compared to 2021, represent 87.11% of the total. Reports of accidents on the way, up by 11.91%, represent 12.89% of the total.

The increase detected concerns both the female component, with 4,367 more cases, and the male component, with 5,211 more cases. The territorial analysis of fatal accident declarations shows decreases in all geographical macro-areas. At regional level there are 37 fewer cases in Campania, 22 less in Friuli-Veneto Emilia-Romagna and Puglia, 20 less in the 18 less in Piedmont, 12 less in Molise, 10 less in Liguria and Lazio, 6 less in Basilicata, 5 less in Umbria, 2 less in Sicily and in the Autonomous Region of the Thirty,  1 less in Sardinia. On the other hand, Lombardy, Tuscany, Veneto, the autonomous province of Bolzano, Marche and Valle d’Aosta are on the rise.

In 2022, reports of fatal accidents decreased by 10.73% compared to the previous year. Of the 1 090 cases registered, 790 involved accidents at work, 300 commuting accidents. Declarations of fatal accidents at work, down by 18.81%, represent 72.48% of the total. The observed decrease is due to both a male component, with 152 fewer cases, and a female component with 31 fewer cases. Reports of commuting accidents increased by 20.97 represent 27.52% of the total.

In 2022, 60,774 complaints for occupational disease were registered, which is 9.92% more than in 2021. The territorial analysis shows, for 2022, increases in reports of occupational disease for the islands, the center, the north  west, the south and the north east. Tuscany, with 1,147 complaints Sardinia, Umbria, Puglia, Veneto, Abruzzo, Lazio, Lombardy, Liguria, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Molise, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Basilicata and Valle d’Aosta. Decreases were recorded in the autonomous province of Bolzano, in Piedmont, Campania and in the autonomous province of Trento.
